One of the more common introductory things that happens, of course, is whether it’s primary teeth or whether it’s adult teeth is cavities. The early small and often simple damage that occurs, tooth fillings are our first line of defense. They’re our first opportunity to remove that external damage and to be able to functionally and aesthetically build back tooth in a minimally invasive fashion. We’ve got wonderful tooth-colored, strong fillings. It just continued, those materials continued to get better and better as years progressed. From a minimally invasive option and for patients that are being attentive and coming in on a frequent basis with our hygiene kind of partnered on that recall theme, hopefully, minimal amount of fillings, tooth-colored fillings, is a great opportunity for us to repair some of that damage and not have to go any further. Tooth-colored fillings are something that is almost universal. We don’t really have to go with metal or mercury-based fillings any longer. It’s a strong and, like I said, a minimally invasive option for our patients.

Receive the Right Repair With Two Types of Dental Fillings

Because all cavities are different, we use two types of tooth fillings. Our team will help you determine which one will work best for your needs:

• Metal (Amalgam) Fillings – These silver tooth fillings are made of a blend of materials. Two of their biggest benefits are their affordability and their durability.
• Composite Resin Fillings – One of resin’s biggest benefits is that our dentists can match it to the color of your teeth so it blends in naturally with your smile. It also requires less modification of your teeth than amalgam fillings. However, it is more costly than amalgam and typically won’t last as long as a metal filling.

Though every situation is different, we often recommend resin for fillings in the front of your mouth or other highly visible areas. Our team will take the time to discuss the pros and cons of each approach with you.
