A crown - the purpose of a crown is to maintain the structural integrity of the tooth. Either through decay or it's broken or maybe you got in an accident or a number of factors can result in the destruction of your teeth. That is the purpose of a crown. Some people call them caps. They surround the tooth and hold them together, maintain that structural integrity. A bridge, that is like having two crowns, you're missing a tooth and the tooth on either side is called an abutment. So you crown both of those and it's one piece and it's connected to the punnet between the two abutments. It's just like a bridge over a river. You have an abutment on one side, abutment on the other, and the part that goes over the river, that's the punnet. It's an edentulous area, but space without a tooth. That's one way that you can replace teeth, is with a bridge.
Of course another way is through implants or crowns. When you talk about crowns, you can't leave out Serite. That is great new technology that brings a lot of advantages. One is you get the crown back in the same day, and the other big advantage is less grinding of the tooth. You only have to take out the disease, the bad part, and you put in the good part, like an. So what you end up with is less grinding on the tooth that's experimentally invasive, and get it back in one day. It looks great.
You’ll Enjoy CEREC’s Benefits
Our CEREC technology not only eliminates the weeks-long wait for a dental restoration – it offers other benefits, too. Among them:
- Durability. We fabricate your same-day dental crown from long-lasting porcelain or zirconia, which should last for many years with no special care required.
- Comfort. We take digital impressions of your teeth, which is faster, easier, and more comfortable than the messy molding material traditionally used for impressions.
- Flexibility. With CEREC, we can make any necessary adjustments to the fit or appearance of your restoration without any delay. The result is a dental crown that looks, feels, and functions like your own tooth in a single appointment.
Dental Crowns & Dental Bridges Are Versatile Restorations
Because they cover your entire tooth, we use tooth caps to repair all kinds of dental damage, including breaks, cracks, and severe decay. Caps not only restore the function and appearance of your teeth; they also protect them from further damage.
To replace a missing tooth or teeth, we can make a dental bridge. We place two dental crowns on either side of your lost tooth and “bridge” the gap with a realistic-looking replacement tooth. Many people like the convenience of this tooth replacement, which you won’t need to remove for cleaning.
